There’s an incredible abundance of VC podcasts nowadays. It’s great marker of the ever-growing interest for that field. It’s also telling of the competition between firms to become more visible.

Yet, a thoughtful and researched post or newsletter issue is almost always more valuable than a podcast, simply because writing is more deliberate and fosters clarity of thought.

On the other hand, podcasts, which are hard to curate and reference, imply a sort of unfair 20 to 90 minutes commitment. As a listener, I must wonder, is it truly going to be time well spent and how much will I learn from this?

A podcast can be an excellent medium to share stories and anecdotes. The best interviewers are genuinely skilled and engaging; the best guests are incredibly knowledgeable. But for that reason, a semi-scripted coffee chat between peers is probably not podcast-worthy material.
